Supporting Our Nonprofits

loading...Community Financial cares about the communities we serve just as much as our members do. That’s why we’re proud to support the many nonprofit organizations that aid our communities in many different ways. We are proud to have the opportunity to support them in their missions and be able to help build stronger communities.

Summer of Sharing

What GOOD could you do with $1,000? We asked our members and communities to once again nominate their favorite local nonprofit who they felt deserved an extra $1,000. We’ve marked 2013 as the most successful year for Summer of Sharing, with a record amount of nominations. The stories kept rolling in as we chose a nonprofit to donate to each day for 60 days last summer.

"This donation from Community Financial is a life saver, and is going to allow us to continue our program without having to cut services. We want to thank Community Financial for supporting our causes and the community."

Thanksgiving on the Mayflower

Community Financial teamed up with 98.7 AMP Radio and Gleaners Food Bank to help out with their Thanksgiving on the Mayflower food drive. Our branches served as additional donation locations for non-perishable food items to be donated to hungry families for Thanksgiving. We received donations from members, employees and residents of our communities. At the end of the drive, we brought our donations over to help fill the Mayflower trucks and provide a bountiful Thanksgiving to southeast Michigan.

Warming Hearts & Homes

This past December marked our second Warming Hearts & Homes charitable campaign. This campaign is incredibly important to our credit union because the number of people forced to choose between paying for food or paying for utilities in Michigan has increased over the past few years. This past year, donations went to support efforts for The Heat and Warmth Fund (THAW), The Salvation Army’s Coats for Kids program and local food pantries. We divided a $30,000 donation among these groups that work incredibly hard to keep families fed and warm throughout an extremely cold Michigan winter.

"Over 20,000 children have benefitted from the services THAW provides. A donation from Community Financial through Warming Hearts & Homes allows us to work at raising that number."
